I guess you've succeeded in dragging me into the 21st century!  (I don't think I've ever posted to a blog, and I don't do Facebook or MySpace.)  So here I go...

David, thanks for setting this up.  I think it's a good idea.

Adding an item via email

In addition to going onto the Blogger web site to make a post, you can also post by sending it an email. This works pretty well, except for an over-aggressive approach to carriage returns. The address to email a posting to is:

dsmcintosh1.McNews3102@blogger.com

Email notifications

Blogger says it can send notifications to up to 10 people when I make a post. I assume this applies to everybody else when they post, but we'll have to see.

I have told Blogger to send notifications to Mother and the seven of us when I (we?) post.

So who exactly does "Anybody" mean?

I'm just learning how to do this, so please forgive the multiple postings.

I've invited mother and the seven children to be "authors" with posting privileges. We can have up to 100 people as authors. So, if anybody else wants to join -- spouses, grandchildren, close friends -- just let me know.

Just Getting Started (no real news)

A day late and a dollar short...

Mother's going in the hospital made me think that we should have some online way of posting news that was of interest or concern to the whole family. We have been relying on phone calls and occasional group emails. I thought a shared blog would be easier.

I'm setting this blog up so that anybody can read whatever is up, and anybody can post to it. Then each of us can bookmark it in the blogs that we follow. I also want to see if there is a way that Blogger will send emails to us whenever a posting goes up, the way that Facebook does. That way we don't need to feel obligated to go check up on the blog all the time.

Let me know if you think this is a dumb idea.
