Today Dorothy and I went to the ribbon-cutting for Hope House's new shelter for women and children. They have gutted the building and are making dorm rooms on the first and second floors. The kitchen and common room are on the lower level. It will house up to 50 people, presumably for up to 90 days, although the staff told me that will be flexible. "We" now own the lot next door that used to have an apartment building (a cat house, I heard). Now it is a parking lot and there is a yard and playground. They've done a lot to fix it up and it looks pretty good. I'm pleased with what they are doing and I'm sure Dad would be too. It didn't turn out to be the retirement next egg that we hoped for, but we did all right and the building is now being put to a good use.
If you want to see the article in today's paper, it's at Middletownjournal.com, and I had to ask for Homeless facility.
Love, Mother
