Kurt's better
Heather left me a voicemail that Kurt is out of surgery and is doing much better. They found an abscess that was buried quite deep. They cleaned it out and have pumped even more antibiotics into him. He is, according to Heather, full of piss and vinegar again. Big relief.

ReplyDeleteMarilyn & Paul went to visit Kurt at the hospital last night after dinner. When they got home, Marilyn was trying to let out the dogs and somehow got tangled up in their chains/lines/leashes. Mel fell and broke her left arm, sort of shattering her wrist. Paul took Mel to the ER and they immobilized it, but she'll need surgery (Thurs.). It's her violin-fingering hand, so she won't be able to play for awhile.
Mel saw Kurt's (old) orthopedist for this afternoon. It's not the dr. who's treating his spine, says Mom, but the one who did Kurt's ankle. (At our orthoped. office, there's a doc for each part of the skeleton, practically, so that doesn't surprise me.)
Amber & Jess were/are at the hospital all day today, & Heather was leaving work early to be there too. And apparently, according to David's post, surgery went well for Kurt today. Yes, let's be careful out there - no more health crises this week! ~ Barb

ReplyDeleteUpdate: out of surgery and recovery. They found a second large abcess and cleaned it all our and then put the pump back on. I feel better but maybe it's because I'm on a drug seven times stronger than morphine. Weeeeeeee. Don't wear off don't wear off.
Good News! Kurt is being released this afternoon! Thank you everyone for your prayers and well wishes. He was back to his old (and sometimes annoying!) self after surgery yesterday, and is continuing the momentum. Now we're just looking forward to similar success with Mom today.
